Creativity Essay -- Technology Art Papers

CreativityThe walls of the Louvre are covered with artistic masterpieces, widely recognized as some of the most treasured, yeasty works known to man. The unique stroke of a brush or the layering of paint can distinguish these geniuses from the masses. Despite the ability to label these pieces of art as especially creative, it remains unclear how one can truly qualify the defining characteristics of creativity. This faculty is commonly viewed as intangible, as a spark of creativity, or, a flash of creativity. This phenomenon, which lies at the foundation of our artistic culture, eludes our current grasp of understanding. For some, creativity rests within our benignant nature as an integral part of our being, for others, it may pop out from the great mechanical complexity of our brains, or the randomness of the universe. In recent years there have also emerged visual and literary works by computers which some experts believe to have a creative nature. This controversial idea causes unease in many that characteristics we commonly assume to be innately human could manifest in a machine. However, after viewing the works created by computers, it becomes necessary to consider the possibility of such creative ability whether or not the works themselves are creative. Though one can find examples of human creativity in nearly all aspects of life, perhaps it is most clearly unvarnished in our literature. The thoughtful combination of voice communication can express the gauntlet of human emotions and experiences aptly, and in the most talented of authors, can breathe life into the words and seemingly recreate the experiences in the mind of the reader. Notable and critically praised author James Joyce provides an example of this in his work Ulysses... ...uture computer which could paint like Monet, or have faith in a machine to effectively speak to the emotions of a human. However, technological innovations continually astound us, and it is no less plausible that a co mputer could function at this level of creativity, than one hundred years ago to imagine men landing on the moon. Story Of An Hour :: essays research papers

In the Story of An Hour, Mrs. Mallard seemed to me like an old misunderstood woman and as we are told in the very first line, afflicted with a heart trouble. I was surprised later, when it said that she was young. I think that Chopin is showing us a genial situation of the periods with the woman as a prisoner of her conserve. Marriage was not always about mutual love between two deal and during that time Chopin was writing, which was during 1804-1904, this was often the case. Marriage was as much about monetary comfort, social status as it was about possible love. There are no children mentioned in the story, which makes me wonder if there was a sexual relationship between the Mallards. It seems from the description that Mrs. Mallard has been trapped in this marriage for a long time even though we know she is young. How young is she? I would probably guess that she would be in her middle thirties. She probably got married very young, as they ordinarily did at that time. The wo men would usually stay at home and the men would go to work. Things have changed a lot now a day. I don t think that this marriage is arranged. I think that she has been forced by her society to marry despite what she may want to do in her heart and soul. I believe she does love her husband, but it is possible to love a man and not be married to him. Is her heart condition purely physical or is it psychological and emotional? We know that women can be hysterical, timid, weak and very emotional. When is her first name mentioned and why? That is the interesting part of the story that gave me the idea of my building block conclusion. Her first name is only told to us after she hears of her husbands death and when she feels the freest. Before her husbands death she is referred to us as Mrs. Mallard or she, and after when her husband returns home, she is referred to as wife. When Louise marries Brently she becomes Mrs. Mallard she loses her identity and assumes a new and strange one. Wh ile it seems very normal and average for a wife to assume her husband s name in marriage and in that time, become the property of him, it cannot be ignored that a certain part of the self is lost.

The Cancer of Ebonics :: Expository Exemplification Essays

The Cancer of Ebonics American society has made concessions for many groups of people with special interests, such as animal activists, environmental activists and a host of ethnic groups. Tough animal rights laws have been passed to ensure the safety and future of a variety of species ranging from the domestic cat to the bald eagle. The development of Wetlands has been curtailed in an enterprise to protect our swamps and forests from extinction. Our educational system has implemented a program known as, English As a Second Language, which lends itself to the special needs of immigrants in our school systems. This program offers extra tutoring and extra time on tests for immigrants who primarily speak a lecture other than English. Dudley Scholarship and Bethel Foundation Scholarship, along with over twelve-hundred others, have been created exclusively for minorities in an effort to encourage furthering their education. A list of these scholarships can be found in Directory of F inancial Aids for Minorities, 1993-1995. In an effort to promote equal opportunity in the work place, the United States Government adopted the Affirmative Action program, which forces companies to place a certain number of minorities deep down their work force. Now, some politicians and educators in this country want to make concessions for those Americans who have grown up learning to speak what some people call pathway slang, as opposed to speaking standard English, which at last I heard was still Americas primary language. According to Caroline Boarder, a political columnist, a program known as Ebonics has been introduced in Oakland, Ca., as a way to bridge the gap between black English or bad communicatory students and standard English-speaking students in an effort to raise reading and writing test scores of African Americans. She also states that the Oakland school board contends that this bridge is needed because the speaking of Ebonics is genetically related to African A mericans. (Educators Sound Off on Ebonics, Washington Post, Jan 97) This hypothesis suggests that black students are incapable of learning the English language through conventional teaching methods, and we must devise an easier way to teach them. I encourage every tax paying American citizen to take a close look at this program after all, it is you who will be paying the bill for its implementation. I agree with politicians and educators who have at least acknowledge the fact that our education system needs an effective way to instill proper English in all students across the country regardless of their race, but is Ebonics the answer?

Algae Bio Fuel of the FutureBio Fuels are clearly the most suitable substitute energy of the future as oil and coal are both rapidly vanishing and increasingly out of interest for nations wishing to avoid terrorist nations. The Making of Barack Obama: A Glance at the Persuasive Power of Media

Barack Obama, an African-American from a middle-class family, surprisingly won the U.S. presidential election last November 4, 2008 and swore to presidency on January 20, 2009. As the U.S. is one of the racist countries in the world, he surprised the world by becoming the first Black President. Most political critics argued that media agenda background and Obamas companionable media strategies significantly aided in his campaigns. Aside from traditional media (print and broadcast media), Obama used the Internet media to win the attention and the voting power of most of the U.S. citizens.Although Obama has been into politics and has served the familiar for almost half of his life, it has been identified that Obamas publicity in those popular media contributed a lot for his success in presidential election.During presidential campaign, it has been observed that Obama is in every media. From news in print media such as newspaper and magazine to radio interviews and television shows. M ost noticeably, Obama as well invaded the Internet with www.barackobama.com and the YouTube, to name a few. His e-mail advocacy, on-line video, and text messaging strategy also caught the attention of the sensitive audience and consumers. As Monte Lutz put itBarack Obama won the presidency in a landslide victory (by a margin of nearly 200 electoral votes and 8.5 million popular votes) by converting everyday people into engaged and appoint volunteers, donors and advocates through social networks, e-mail advocacy, text messaging and online video. The campaigns proclivity to online advocacy is a major reason for his victory. (2)The Persuasive Power of Media and the PoliticiansMass media is cognize as the most powerful propaganda and persuasive tool. At first, media was only used in business to influence the buying behavior of most consumers. Most newspapers and magazines backpack colorful and catchy advertisements, challenging the readers to try the mathematical product or service to see the difference.Radio and television commercials also continuously clog the audience while audience or viewing their favorite program, and before they know it, they are already heading their way to the grocery or department store to buy the product that has been advertised. Brand recall was found to be an effect of product and service advertisements. Even if the audience did not pay enough attention, part of their cognitive administration is able to recall the name of the product or service being advertised.Seeing the effectiveness of media in influencing the buying behavior of consumers, this trend has been adapted to politics from setting political agenda, creating public policy, advocating political issues, to packaging the political candidate buying for any electoral position.Politicians believe that if the media could influence the buying behavior of the consumers, then it could also influence the voting behavior of the public. The advantage of most politicians lies o n the fact that the Internet is now accessible everywhere. Most households nowadays own a estimator with Internet access if not, they can access it at a nearby computer shop.

Should Developing Countries Concentrate on Improving?

Should developing countries concentrate on improving industrial skills or should they promote discipline first? As everyone knows that a government represents the community to operate the whole acres and to structure a well-organized system for discipline, on the other hand, a powerful nation needs a strong administrative government which could constitute beneficial policies for the people, because government is closely connected with people, and its relationship is unbreakable. So, any policies government made are weighty directly influencing peoples life.Useful policies provide a nation right direction to help its ontogenesis in any fields such as economy, didactics, industry and military in contrast, bad ones pull the whole nation d deliver. Simply it can be said, constitution of policies makes the decision of national development, and especially its much more important in developing countries than advanced countries. Then, in developing procedure which one should be develop ed first, improving industrial skills or promoting program line? In my opinion, promoting education is basically more important than industrial skills improvement. One of reasons is it can not be doubted that industrial development or improvement is based on technology development which requires specialists, especially advanced technologies, which developing countries could not independently develop, need to be imported though high-educated people, therefore, even if a nation has abundant mines or materials, without well-structured and general education development, the resources surely can not be well used to develop technologies. And, oppositely, low-educated people slow down development.Another reason is well-structured education system factor frequencies of transmission and communication of diversified and different information. It not only helps education to be popularized, but also enhances the possibility of acquirement from advanced countries. Moreover, a nation has a well -developed financial system must be set up by education. When people are learned from knowledge, then they know how to trade with others, or countries, in many ways. Hence, education pushes exchange of trade and also strengthens the entity of nation. An example can be supportive for my view.In the past more than 50 years, two semipolitical systems, democracy and communism, were developed and makes two most powerful and superior countries, America and Old Russia. It is known that Old Russia was an industrial country, and the isolation made it develop its own technologies. For maintaining advantageous position which in competition with America, it continually kept developing, but why Old Russia collapsed in a flash but Communist china did not? The opening of it economic market to international may be the answer, but another important policy was also valued by Chinese government is the enhancement of literacy rate increasing.Chinese government knew the technology development or techn ology import both require education, for this reason the nationwide popularization of education was strongly pushed to educate and train up people to help both restructuring and development in every field. To sum up, I believe the establishment of education is much more important than technology development or improvement. Even though a nation can develop its technologies first, without the reinforcement of education its development of every field, will be soon stopped or slowed down by its low-educated system.

Importance of Computer Literacy

Importance of Com seater Literacy Computer literacy is having up to date knowledge of computers and their capabilities. genius of the more popular aspects of the computer is the use of the internet. The internet is a innovationwide collection of networks that links millions of tunees, government agencies, educational institutions, and individuals. It was originally started by the Pentagon for scientists and military to put information and their studies on a network that was easily shared with one another. They also designed it so it could function even when part of the network is disenable by a terrorist attack or natural disaster. The servers allow connection between other computers by linking it to its network, to allow clients to communicate. Today, there is no one ascendence or person in charge of the internet, it is publicly accessed, but there are major corporations that over identify e verything. Knowing how computers and the internet function together is very important.A computer is an electronic device, functioning under the control of directions stored in its own memory, which can admit data according to specified guidelines, produce results, and store the results for future tense use. The main purpose of a computer is to process data into information, or issueput, that people can understand. Data, or stimulant, is a collection of unprocessed items, which include text, numbers, images, audio, and video. The serial of input, output, storage activities, communication actions, and system unit are part of the information processing cycle. In order to complete these functions there are many electrical and automaton worry components in a computer called computer hardware. One advantage of all these components is that they are very reliable and rarely break and requisite replacing. First there is the input device, which is any hardware component that allows you to enter data and commands into a computer. The advantage of input is that it is consist ent, whatever it is given it leave produce the same results during the output. Five normally used input devices are the keyboard, mouse, microphone, scanner, and blade cam.Next, there is the output device, which is any hardware component that conveys information to one or more people such as a printer, monitor, and speakers. Then, the system unit is a case that holds the electronic mechanisms of the computer that are used to route data. The system unit is linked to a circuit board called the motherboard. The two main components of the motherboard are the processor and memory. The processor, also known as the CPU (central processing unit) is the electrical component that interprets and carries out the staple fiber instructions that operate the computer.Memory consists of electronic components that store instructions waiting to be executed and data needed by those instructions. One of the main advantages of the computer is its speed. When data flows through the circuits it is movi ng incredibly fast, processing billions and trillions of operations in a single second. Next, the storage device is used to hold data, instructions, and information for future use. A computer keeps these on storage media like memory cards or USB flash drives. A storage device records and retrieves items to and from the storage media. The storage availability on a computer is a huge benefit because you can store enormous amounts of data and process it anytime. Finally, a communication device is a hardware component that enables a computer to transmit and get together data, instructions, and information to from one or more computers or mobile devices. This is highly beneficial considering most computers right away communicate with each other. This capability allows computers to share their processing life cycles with other people. The completion and understanding of the information processing life cycle of computers allows users to access so much more information than previous generat ions. Just owning a computer is still limiting its capabilities if you are not using the internet though. In accuse Gates The Road Ahead, he discusses how the internet is an information highway and that there is pecks of materials out there, but you use filters to help you find what you need. The internet is like also like a highway because the information that you request passes through many networks until it reaches you.First, the computer initiates a request of data specific to the IP (internet protocol) talk currently in use, then transfers that request through the modem to the central cable system, that proceeds to an even larger central cable system. The ISP routes your request to the appropriate address server. Finally, the server receives your request and responds. This all happens within a few seconds depending on how fast your internet is. In order to use the internet you will need a web browser. A web browser is application software that connects mobile devices or com puters to the internet.Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari, and Google Chrome are some the most popular web browsers. Once the web browser is set up, you are able to set a home page, or the website that will appear every time you yield your browser. It is most common to have your homepage setting to a search engine such as Google or Yahoo. A search engine is a political platform that finds websites, webpages, videos, and news that is related to a key word or subject. When the search engine finds the results it provides hyperlinks and short descriptions about the webpages related to your search.Gates compares these filters to using a library compile (Gates, 1995). This makes navigating the internet very simple and easy to use to help from too much information piling up on you. When using computers and the internet, it would also be beneficial to apply application software. Application software consists of programs made specifically to make people more productive. It also ass ists with personal tasks. It is designed to make business activities more efficient, help with graphics and multimedia projects, to support home, personal, and educational duties, and to facilitate communication. One of the more popular uses of the computer is the easily navigated communication software. E-mailing is very popular among schools and businesses as a way to relay information. Texts, pictures, and video messages can all be transferred wirelessly from mobile devices to computers to share. Video conferencing helps meetings between geographically separated people. Nick Wingfield, a reporter for the New York Times posted a video talking about Microsofts buy out of Skype and was discussing the companys direction. He talked about how they are stressful to make a business platform for Skype conference calls on Windows 8 (Wingfield, 2012). This would be great and could possibly change how the working world does business. A lot of people are able to work from home through e-mail or conference calls, but if Skype comes out with something specifically for distance meetings this could cut out the need to go to the office all together for some businesses. This would mean saving time and gas on driving, more family interaction, and companies could save money on office space. If everyone worked from home location wouldnt even matter, cost of living would go down in places like New York and D. C. My brother is already allowed to do this as a patent examiner for the US government and only has to fly in from Michigan to DC when certain clients want to see him. I regain businesses will slowly move more towards using this application software more heavily in the future. I dont see how getting information faster and more effective could be bad at all. By browsing the internet with easy use of search engines we will be able to learn more and faster and wasting less time looking. Some people may be afraid of the advances in computers like NPRs Chris Arnold talked about The race against the machine and how super computers like Jeopardys WATSON can do the research of 500 lawyers at once (Arnold, 2011). Yes, this may crawfish away the need for lawyers because computers make research easier, but technology constantly being upgraded and increasing in households jobs will be made up in the field of computer science. The fact that more and more jobs will be created for computer scientist or at least involve using computer technologies is why being computer literate is so important.Overall, I believe that computers are only improving society and breaking boundaries between nations. We are able to receive and understand information faster than ever before. Generation Y spends most of their time on the online through computers, smart phones, or video games. I think it should be mandatory that grade schools and high schools teach basic computer classes, and that college should require an elementary computer science class as well. This is because the modern worl d is one that relies on technological communication and work skills so to not have them is no longer feasible.Works Cited Arnold, C. (2011, November 13). Explain Steps in Organizational Changes Process Essay

There are four steps in geological formational changes process. The management of change involves determining the necessitate for changes, determining the obstacles to change, implementing change, and evaluating change. Explaining steps in organizational change process are as follows First, the organization may determine the needs for changes to make organization much responsive, flexible and competitive. Before the changing, the organization should find the gap between performance objectives and actual performance, and uses several(prenominal) indicators, which like total net profit, sales per employee, and labor costs, to esteem the gap in order to decide whether the organization needs to change. Second, the organization need to identify the obstacles, which like resisting changes at organization, division or individual level, Unions resistance, the culture, strategies and structures of the organization, and financial ability, to introduce new policies and practices when the organization need to changes. For example, for the financial ability, HR manager expects to introduce new technology to make the organization more competitive. However, the organization doesnt have enough subsidies to afford all caters to learn new skills. Therefore, the organization should identify all potential barriers. Third, the organization should consider which methods to implement in the change to reduce the resistance from managers or employees. The organization dirty dog use internal managers or external consultants to carry out the changes. The internal managers have more erudite about people and business operations, but the internal managers often are too narrow to successfully introduce change. Besides, the external consultants are politically apathetic and possessing broader and have more knowledgeable viewpoints, but the external consultants do not know the organization and its staff. Therefore, the organization should measure which method is more suitable for the o rganization. Moreover, the organization should use Top-Down or Bottom-Up approach to implement the changes. The Top-Down approach which managers need to involve in decision and implementation, this approach emphasizes on reanimate and action. This approach shows the low-level staff just participates in the changes, but top-level managers are made decisions. The Bottom-Up approach which involves considerable discussion and consultation with managers and employees, it emphasizes participation, communication, and the minimizations of uncertainty. This approach makes the staff have more motivations and satisfactions. Therefore, the organization should choose which approach to implement the changes.Last, to measure the effectiveness of changes, the organization use or so indicators, like employee productivity, job satisfaction, sales, to compare the to begin with and after situations to analyze and control the outcome. For example, when the organization implemented the change, it can c ompare the sales this year and last year to evaluate the effectiveness of the change. Therefore, the organization can utilize different indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of the change. The organization should change regularly as the business environment is constantly changing. However, roughly of reasons why the employees sometimes wicked to change are followings If I were a HR manager, I would handle this situation with different methods to help the employees. As a HR manager, I would happen with the employees to reduce the influences of them. Some employees may resist changing because they feel incapable of performing well under the new way of doing things like using towering technology, and they do not understanding what is happening or why. Therefore, I would communicate with them to reduce their resistances. As a HR manager, I would participate with the employees to attend some lessons or courses, which are provided by the organization. It is because some of them may f eel work overload and loss of face when they faced the change. They may feel that they are physically or mentally unable to handle the change and feel uncomfortable. Thus, I would participate with them to support them to change. As a HR manager, I would organize some channels, which like meetings, memos, E-mails, and social network, to let the employees know why the organization needs to change in order to reduce their resistances and angers. In the channels, I would tell them the mellowed technology only less skills required, the change can carry lower pay rate. So I would organize some channels to reduce their hero-worship of the unknown. As a HR manager, I would negotiate with the organization to provide the counseling for the lay-off employees to lower negative emotions. Some of them may feel that their pay and benefits may be reduced or they may lose their job as the economic downturn. Thus, I would require the organization provide counseling to give them comfort. As a HR manag er, I would negotiate with the organization providing rewards when the employees accepted some required. The organization needs to introduce some high technology as an example, if some of them, who accepted the requirement, may have opportunities to increase their pays or promotion. Therefore, I would utilize some rewards to attract them. Therefore, as a HR manager, I am not only monitoring organizations environment, but also I should communicate with employees.

The book, by virtue of inherent limitations in form and volume, fails to document the thousand other Filipinos fightingtheir way through bureaucratic hurdles and falling through the cracks. Then again, that is non what the book is for.It makes no mention, for instance, of those on the opposite side of the spectrum people who ask abandoned all hope. This is precisely because the stories featured are meant to build trust and a resolve to switch poverty. Bernal. B. (2013). 18 stories of Filipinos overcoming poverty. This is a story about Filipino citizens who are trying to overcome poverty through their hardships. Most Filipinos are trying to find a way out of poverty. Filipinos are known as hard workers and dedicated citizens. But it is not enough. The government should also help to overcome poverty in the country. The government should be a model to its people. But it is not happening. The government is one of the reasons why there is poverty in the Philippines.Corruption is a cause of poverty in the Philippines. The government raises the tax and all the other expenses of the people but do not use the notes for the benefit of the people. They use the cash for the benefit of their own. They keep it for themselves and tell the people that they worked for the money they have. Corruption leads to poverty in a way that the peoples money is being kept and used by the people who are just using their position in the government to be rich. All they care about is their selves. They do not care about the people suffering because of what they are doing.Read moreProblems in the PhillipinesFormer President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo of the Philippines was arrested Thursday afternoon on corruption charges tie in to allegations of misuse of $8.8 million in state lottery fund s during her administration. Floyd W. (2012). Philippines Ex-President Is Arrested in Hospital on New Charges. This news tells that even the highest official can do corruption. This is one of the reasons why there is poverty in the Philippines. The officials are not honest to the people of their country. They keep the money of the people for their own and let the people suffer. They use their power to flee themselves from the consequences that should be given to them. They arestealing from their people. They should be punished and suffer from the same thing that the people are experiencing because of what they have done. All they think about is their selves. They do not care whether they are making other people suffer. What matters to them is they should be able to do what they want to do.another(prenominal) cause of poverty in the Philippines is overpopulation. People do not plan on what they want to do with their future families. They do not plan on how m each kids the want to have and can support all through their lives. What happens is they make babies, more babies, and then afterwards they wont have any money left to buy food for their family. So every member of the family suffers. Most developing nations have large number of people who are illiterate, live below the poverty line and have little or no knowledge about family planning. Getting their boorren married at an early age growing the chances of producing more kids. Those people are unable to understand the harmful effects of overpopulation and lack of ignorance prompts them to avoid family planning measures Overpopulation. (2014).Nowadays, many teenagers are getting pregnant. Teenagers are getting curious about having sex at an early age that can cause overpopulation. Without planning on what their lives would be and how it will affect the community. There are a lot of reasons as to why the Philippines is overpopulated. One reason, or I was able to think of, is Pre-Marital finish up. We learn from the Bible that sex before marriage is a sin and yet a lot of people do it. Some happens accidentally but some do it on purpose. Another cause of overpopulation is exposed sex. Maybe one of the reasons as to why people do it is mainly just because of pleasure. Come to think of it, I ask myself why do they do it when they know that it could actually lead to something bad? This is a cause of overpopulation because the child born was just mainly an accident. These couples did not want to have a child in the first place and that one child is a big contribution to the countrys population. Another main cause that hit me the some is those families on thepoverty level still manage to get a child when they already have fiver or even more to discipline care of. They keep on making children when they know themselves that they are only limited to a number. Whang. C. (2012). Overpopulation in the Philippines.Pre-Marital Sex is caused by lack of education when it comes to cozy education. Lack of education is another cause of poverty. Most children have no opportunity to study. They cant go to school because they have no money and no one is helping them, especially the government. If they do not study, they wont be able to get a job in the future. And then they will suffer again from the same problem, poverty. If the children will not learn anything especially the lessons about pre-marital sex, there is a big chance that they will try it at an early age out of curiosity. The biggest cause of overpopulation in the Philippines is the lack of education. People there dont have the knowledge on how to use contraceptives. The big and powerful Roman Catholic Church (which basically controls the country) disapproves of any form of sexual education and birth contraceptives. This explains the lack of sexual education and the government constant refusal to provide free birth control for its citizens. Anonymous. (N.D)The church disapproves to sexual education which is why the childre n have a lack of knowledge when it comes to sexual intercourse. Sex education somehow must be taught to children when they are already at the right age for them to know the effects of pre-marital sex.Unemployment creates a lack of financial stability, star(p) to a downwards spiral in social mobility and eventually poverty. The un engaged will have a lower standard of living than most employed people. Lack of a regular income leads to the inability to be able to maintain the basic needs, including fundamental provisions such as eating healthy foods, get into health care and providing adequate heating for the home. While there are many types of poverty, the reasons behind poverty are always a lack of money. It is possible to live in poverty even with employment. A low paid worker maysuffer much the same hardships. Anonymous. (N.D)When a person is unemployed, he will have no income to earn for himself. Being employed is a very important way to prevent poverty. When you are employed, you are going to earn money. You will be able to supply all your needs in everyday life. Unlike the unemployed persons, they cannot supply themselves with all their needs. Unemployment leads to poverty because when a person has no job, he will have no money to buy food and no shelter to live in, he will have to await on the help coming from other people.ReferencesBernal. The artisans’ works include making clay-pots Essay

From the very beginning of our Banglee culture, pottery has represented our identity and lifestyle. The cheatisans works include qualification clay-pots, e devicehen w be, toys of clay and different idols of gods and goddesses score been the tradition of our culture. But it is now regrettable that in recent times, especially in the last decade potters rent been in distress. Because of these unavoidable factors standardised clay, inadequacy of capital, unsatisfactory selling of clay pots, lack of fuel wood for burning raw pots, their plight is in peril. Earthenw be and modish things of clay are being rapidly supplanted by aluminum, plastic, steel and former(a) alternative materials. compensate toys for children are being do with wood and cloth. Besides, so tatty p domicileigious slew never tend to buy earthenware thinking their image and status. But it is admitted everywhere that cooking pot of clay is more conducive to health than pot of silver or other materials.Cookin g rice of clay-pots help to cure gastric problem. And pitchers keep water cool in hot days. some other cause for not selling clayware is its brittleness. Inspite of being more cheaper than other aluminum or plastic made pots, clay-pots are not being change available. Thus potters have to survive with a negligible earning. 3. Pat and Patua important audio-visual mediums in educating the masses since immortal. There is a very deep cultural tie in the Indo-Gangetic civilisation, such as that of terra-cotta, cloth and natural fibre like jute, shola and beetle nut bark fibre, which are on the verge of extinction. These items go back to as much as 12 centuries. The Moenjodaro link which is visible in our terracotta dolls and toys go back to 3,000 years. Not only has that history been forgotten but the realisation that they are diminish is that within two decades theyll be on that point no more. One craft in particular which has suffered as recently as in 15 years is the type of painte d scroll called Ghazir pott. Ghazi is a pir recognised both by the Hindus and Muslims, by the woodcutters, honey gatherers, fishermen and boatmen in the Sundarbans. They invoke the Ghazi pir, the tiger personality who protects the people who enter the jungle. The Ghazir pott is a series of folk stories told by the village men of the bravery of this man who protected them from tigers. Ghazi, she said, is sacred to the Hindus too as they have a similar personality whom they called Shatta pir but he rides a leopard while Ghazi rides a tiger and both carry symbols in their hands. One important reason for the diminishing of crafts is that the metropolis dwellers are not paying according to the demand of the producers. When the villagers are putting the products into the market the price is cut to half and bargaining goes on. The elite are least bothered while the middle class like the items and wish to use them at home but unless one is a connoisseur of art the people of the upper echelo ns of society have forgotten village crafts altogether People are ready to pay a high price for moving picture but they are not ready to pay for a craft that has taken six months whereas the painting may have been done in cardinal days. When a woman has worked on her handicraft on an authentic design for half a year she has the right to ask for more.Karika products are art crafts and not just handicrafts, she stressed. For this reason the theme of the exhibit had been Know Bengali cultural roots. Kumar or potter family are found all over Bangladesh. The cypher terra cotta tile works display enormous sweep and dedicated Kumars. In some communities of kumars make clay pots, vessel for cooking, storing water etc. Other sub-castes form figures in the shape of animals, birds, humans and children toys. The Sakher Hari, an earthen pot, painted with images of fish, combs, birds and floral creepers to denote fertility is used to carry sweets for a marriage ceremony. 10.The Lost Art of a lloy CastingThe lost-wax technique is an ancient art that dates back over 2,000 years or older in India, China, and Egypt. In the 15th century it was used by the likes of Donatello for the making large-scale bronze nudes. Bowls and plates made with intricate etchings are made using other methods. MaterialMost of the figures are made from bronze (a copper and tin alloy) or brass (a copper and zinc alloy). Hindu figures are made out of octet metals believed to have an auspicious connection to the planets. The eight metals are copper, zinc, tin, iron, lead, mercury, gold and silver. Once a dying art, metal-casting is being revived by Sukanta Banik, whose business in Dhamrai has been in the family for five generations. Until recently, Baniks forefathers had been making plate items with brass and bronze kasha and pittal. But in 1971, Sukantas uncle Shakhi Gopal Banik and his partner, Mosharraf Hossein, changed direction and started producing works of art figures from Hindu mythology a nd folk art as well as Buddhistic and Jain sculptures. Designs of the gods and goddessesDesigns of the gods and goddesses are based on the art of the Pala dynasty. They tend to be very intricate, and stand distinguished from statues made elsewhere, The lost-wax technique allows helps Baniks artisans create more pronounced detailing. In contrast to most Indian statues, whose details are etched onto the solid metal form, the details of one of Baniks statues are made on the soft wax at the initial stages of the sculpting, using soft wax thread, which is then carved into with a bamboo stick. Thus, the embellishments take on a third-dimensional quality.Murtis from India also differ in that they are usually made from a Master mold. We must attempt to preserve this age-old tradition, not just in Dhamrai, but in other centers like Jamalpur, Islampur, Tangail, Kushtia, and Dhaka. In the words of friend and supporter, Matt Friedman, If the metal casting trade is someday lost, an important p art of Bangladeshs esthetic tradition will vanish forever. Hats off to Mr. Banik for bringing this decidedly Bangalee tradition back to life (Manisha Gangopadhyay, November 8, 2004). 11. Satranji Weaving for a cause -Rugs steeped in history Even if its not Aladdins magic carpet, the lure of the 1,000 year old tralatitious jute rug Satranji continues to have buyers in its thrall. The elegance and splendour of the rug is believed to have captivated even the great Mughal Emperor Akbar. The charm of Satranji was evident both in palaces and huts. Recently, the lyrical beauty of the Satranji was on display at the lounge of the travel Pacific Sonargaon Hotel. Hanging on walls, placed on a traditional Palanko( the highly decorative antique bed of kings, nawabs and zamindars), the soft lighting created a lackadaisical atmosphere with splashes of bright colours at the exhibition premises. With the title Colour Your Home with Village Art, a three-day exhibition started on October 3, 2004.Th e organiser was historied designer Bibi Russell in collaboration with Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel. The exhibition is a fund raiser. Twenty percent of the proceeds will be donated to Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital. The rest of the funds will go to the North Bengal weaver community who made these magnificent rugs, said Bibi. We are focusing on the women weavers of Rangpur. They have suffered a series of natural adversities- the harmful flood, devastating rains and drought. Consequently, these people are uncertain about how to celebrate Eid.In the exhibition, around 80 Satranjis made of 100 percent jute, are on display with various colours and designs in folk tradition. From Pilpa, which was known as Hatipaya to Jafri, Itkhati, Latai the traditional mingled with modern designs depicting the motifs of elephant footprints, motifs from Jamdani and the intrinsic geometrical patterns. About the designs Bibi says, The traditional motifs are absolutely superb (Afsar Ahmed, Daily Star, November 5, 2004). 12.Bamboo-based cottage industry faces extinctionBamboo-based cottage industry in Shariatpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Rajbari and Faridpur is on the verge of extinction due to lack of raw materials and shrinking of market for the products. Market sources said the short fall in raw materials is triggered by indiscriminate extraction of bamboo trees for building houses and various goods, uprooting the bamboo for climb up settlements and lack of any initiatives to preserve or grow bamboo clusters. Besides, the local markets are being flooded with metal or plastic goods leaving no rooms for the bamboo made ones. Consumers are increasingly buying metal or plastic goods instead of bamboo-made products because of their cost effectiveness and durability. As a result, thousands of bamboo craftsmen have already left their inherited profession in search of alternative jobs. A large number of them have become jobless finding no other alternatives, the sources said. The Dying Art Of Cl inical MedicineAllopathic Medicine is an art and science. It is unique isnt it? By the history (Symptoms) the doctor assumes or infers the possibilities of the diagnosing. Then he examines the patient which include pulse and Blood pressure recording, Heart and lung check with his stethoscope and then the physical examination of the patient. Then he comes to a possible diagnosis eg A simple cold, a bacterial infection, An appendicitis, meningitis, diarrhea etc, etc. This is called clinical diagnosis. This above part is the art of medicine. The scientific part is ordering some tests like blood tests, X-ray, (ultra sonogram, MRI in modern times)etc to confirm the clinical diagnosis. This type of Clinical (Art) & scientific diagnosis was prevalent about 25-30 years before. Now a days it has become 1.(Doctors) protective medici ne because for any untoward reaction like allergy to a drug or a coincidental detail like say the patient is already dying and the doctor is forced to save him by hook or crook by the relatives,( specially in Tamilnadu people think a good practice is giving..1.an injection,2. Few costly tablets and a 3.syrup called as sassy.. Even a cough syrup is considered a tonic etc and now a days a drip is a must.Such doctors(quacks) mint money due to the gullibility of the public. But the genuine and sincere doctor doctor is conquerable (if any untoward like a natural death happens) to mob attack and abuse, law suits and brandishing as bad doctor. So present day health check practice is protective. Thus the art of medicine is dying and the clinicians are becoming stooges of lab tests, Scans, pharmaceuticals and Insurance /business motivators and last but not the least. .the patients and their relatives.

There are so many ways that pupils and instructors in the schoolroom could use engineering to be good to the instructors and the pupils. A greater trust on engineering alterations the relationship between the student-teacher. In order for instructors to be successful in implementing engineering into the course of study and in the schoolroom they will necessitate preparation. Teachers should professional development on how to use engineering efficaciously. In the article titled Teachers Gives Us Better Tech Training Support ( 2008 ) , Teachers and pupils should hold the same degree of engineering in schools that is organism used outside of schools. How can we anticipate our instructors to supply childs with the instruction they need to fall in today s hi-tech work force without the necessary equipment and preparation? asked NEA President Reg Weaver. Technology integrating brings alterations to instructors instructional functions in the schoolroom. The instructor s functions in a technology-infused schoolroom frequently shift to that of a facilitator or manager instead than a lector ( Henriquez & A Riconscente, 1998 ) . Timing is everything, pec uliarly when it comes to engineering. Real acquisition takes topographic chief ( or Michigans ) when really seeking the new accomplishments. The best manner to win widespread usage of new engineerings is to supply just-in-time support, aid, and encouragement when necessary. ( McKenzie, 1998 ) .Using Technology to present historical informations and scientific stuff to pupils that otherwise would hold needed to travel to a museum or Science centre are non merely opening up new universes of idea for pupils it is doing knowledge more readily available for all pupils with entree to computing machines that would non be able to afford field bring outs or books that are outdated. Questions about the effectivity of educational engineering and how effectivity is related to conditions and patterns. The survey identified reading and mathematics package merchandises based on anterior greases of effectivity and other standards and recruited territories, schools, and instructors to implement the merchandises. On norm, after one twelvemonth, merchandises did non increase or diminish trial tonss by sums that were statistically different from nothing. This in my sentiment neither substantiates the fact th at package improves or decreases knowledge instead than it is one aspect of engineering with instruction. The benefits outweigh the disadvantages if any are cited.Patrick Welsh. Technology May Not Increase Learning. At Issue Has Technology Increased Learning? Patrick Welsh seems to sum up his sentiment with Technology is merely a tool, non an terminal in itself. It will neer tack good instruction. Many instructors remark about engineering taking the topographic suggest of Teachers and larning new computing machine brasss that schools purchase because their school system feels it may profit acquisition. Mr. Walsh appears to take the traditional instruction point of view.Andrew T. LeFevre summarizes his article by saying We would make good to retrieve that the ultimate end of our educational system is to learn our kids how to believe for themselves. Technology can be a fantastic tool, but a fast modem will neer replace a speedy head. He supports utilizing engineering but non replacing old manner learning but heightening it with engineering and parental support additions classs.Joanne K. Olson and Michael P. Clough feel that excessively much engineering can really harm the instruction experience of kids. One of their statements is In the concluding analysis, what instructors do in the schoolroom and what pupils experience defines the educational procedure. These Writers gave really valid points in respects to reckoners and non holding the kid understand how the reply was derived. But in no research I have completed did it state that traditional methods can replace in most readings it reinforced it enhances the educational experience.Email is critical today for correspondence with a busy life style. You can see you or your kid s trial tonss, prep assignments or e-mail your instructor with a inquiry. It is now faster to match with parents or instructors leting better communicating. No longer do you hold to wait until parent instructor conferences to a cquire updates on your kid s advancement. With online classs you can see prep, stations and discuss category subjects with your instructors and equals. It is genuinely a practical schoolroom and in some categories you have video and audio same clip entree. Classs are being videotaped, or held virtually so you can associate in and take part with your instructor or be replayed at a more convenient clip. This helps those of us that may be more audile or ocular in our acquisition manners while still leting the flexibleness of location.Laptops, overseas telegrams, flash thrusts, and computing machine package has now become a common topographic point with the dorsum to school crowd. Many school supply lists include new points to be budgeted into costs kids will be involve to hold to continue up with the on-going technological progresss. Most kids have a computing machine at place so they can vie assignments at place utilizing standardised applications and tools. These points are more bi g-ticket(prenominal) than notebooks and pens but can besides make more. After reading these documents and utilizing my ain experiences and observations I would non be able to take college class and still be able to keep down a full clip occupation if non for the promotion in computing machines and engineering. Using the system to explicate a practical schoolroom and to post this assignment to my teacher without traditional paper and write. Technology has opened a learn universe for me and my knowledgebase. Grandkids, kids, parents and grandparents are profiting from the new engineering used by the educational community. As pupils are given the chance to research more complex engineerings it is of import that our instructors and pedagogues are besides equipped to replies inquiries and supply feedback in the schoolroom. boilers suit success besides depends on the instructor s entree to package that improves their course of study, proficient support, and preparation. When instructors ar e put in the place to be a portion of the motive of pupils they will bask their work and experience good about the success of their pupils. They will go more involved by mentoring their pupils. Teachers should do engineering a separate topic it should be a portion of the integrating. Professional development plays a really of import function in doing certain the instructors have the right preparation to be able to take the appropriate technological package and instructional schemes. Most surveies show that the figure one ground instructors do non utilize engineering in the schoolroom is a deficiency of experience in engineering. Teachers need the support to increase their cognition in engineering. When instructors are decently trained they can be more efficaciously when presenting instructions to the pupils. If and when engineering is wholly integrated into instruction, a large alteration in might members will happen. Back in the mid 1990s, criterions written for academic topics di d non include utilizing the net profit or any type of digitized media. For case in history, the old criterions included seeking through old newspapers and transcripts of letters and journals every bit good as traveling to the existent historical sites. These beginnings could merely be found at a local library and historical museums. However, in the criterions that are easy being created and accepted today, the Internet is a major influence on the development. The proposed criterions include locating beginnings about related informations from electronic mail, on-line libraries from around the universe, computing machine webs from schools, and digitized media ( Mageau, Kenney 1994 ) .With the Internet and computing machine web communities, the kids of the hereafter will hold the universe at their fingertips. Children can shop the Internet and happen out more than they could of all time happen in a library. Not merely will kids profit from these alterations, but instructors, every bit good as parents, will excessively. If connexions are put in topographic point, parents will be able to pass on with the instructors on a day-to-day footing. Parents can look into for prep, classs, and even lesson programs. In add-on, instructors can reexamine other instructor s lesson programs and derive cognition from instructors all over the universe every bit good as discuss different ways to present a new topic ( Gates 1996 ) .The benefits of engineering in the schoolroom for pupils, instructors, and parents far outweigh the cost for equipment and excess preparation needed for the pedagogues and decision makers of the engineering. When kids are able to take their imaginativenesss and convey them to life non merely at place, but besides at school, it does admirations for their heads ( Lankutis, Kennedy 2002 ) . Technology is the lone manner which can further rational capacity of today s pupils. With engineering, new thoughts are imagined and created. If engineering is non integr ated into educational criterions, the universe is stating the kids their dreams can non come true.Technology is bit quickly and is a really of import constituent of instruction and acquisition in our schools. Technology is really of import in this universe and it is really of import that we allow our pupils the chance to larn something that will impact their lives in the hereafter. Our end is to implement engineering in the schoolrooms by utilizing technological tools that will do larning more efficient and heighten our pupils larning ability. Research surveies show that engineering is a really powerful larning tool. Research has provided more information about the usage of engineering efficaciously in our schools to assist strengthen and better the academic public presentation and accomplishment of today s pupils. The cardinal constituents in implementing engineering in the schools are activities that work together with both the academic course of study and technological tools. Di fferent attacks must be used and tested in the schoolroom before we can truly find precisely how to maintain out kids motivated and larning through engineering. Integrating engineering will necessitate clip, preparation, planning and administrative support. When a instructor is using the technological tools to actuate pupils it is more productive than talks and text editions. I advocate that we as parents, instructors, pupils and educational leaders be a portion of the planning and execution of engineering in the schoolroom

Our staff is genuinely interested in seeing that all your needs atomic number 18 meet. They are professionals- impart athletic supporter you with everything from gift suggestions to wardrobe planning. They will even accompany you from part to department until you notice exactly what youre looking for , a quote from Nordstrom directory as a benchmark for service exceptions. How is Nordstrom adequate to(p) to claim this unexceptional goal in spite of appearance retail industry? The answer lies with the great reach outment of pauperization produced inside Nordstrom culture. The case in question is prepared by Richard D. Freedman and Jill Vohr, Stern School of Business, refreshful york University. This case analysis is based on the experiences and background of retail giant, Nordstrom. The store started its operations with humble beginning of providing excellent client service to constituents.Nordstrom operates almost 100 stores in 10 states. Its a ripening company with great take ining culture. There are approximately 35000 employees working within Nordstrom family. The focus of Nordstroms counseling is to create an ambitious and motivated team that provides customer service analogous no genius else offers, service above and beyond the call of duty. All employees are made to feel like members of a family sharing in the Nordstrom way. Company has been competent to create an environment where promotions are only from within the company, where employees keep a journal of customers to send thank you garner and upcoming promotions.Employees perform all operations relevant to their jobs, even unpacking items, shelving and storage responsibilities. The astonishing thing is that all these tasks are performed on off the clock. Nordstrom has been able to create an environment where employees are pushing themselves to limits. Doing chores during their lunch time or after the clock has been a Nordstrom culture for a while. still though this practice had crea ted some controversy with few employees and unions are nerve-wracking to pursue Nordstrom to abolish these needal techniques to have employees work off the clock to achieve let out side and money. There have been various lawsuits involving Nordstrom employees and management. This analysis faecal matter provide us some insight on how Nordstrom has been able to use pauperismal theories to purse employees to be part of this huge enterprise. Motivation is a rack that come from within a person that can help create a willful complaint towards achieving some specific goals, where achievement is not due solely to ability or to environmental chemical elements. act of a accepted individual can be accounted using Performance = f (Ability x Motivation)Nordstrom had created a spotlight of business where they pick the best sales people from the given population and provide them motivation in form of promotion, excellent sales commissions and social stature of working for a prestigious retail merchant like Nordstrom. Nordstrom has been able to use content theories of motivation to produce current companys culture. employ content from Hierarchy of wishings Theory by Maslows, Nordstrom can motivate people according to their relish to satisfy specific needs. victimization physiological needs like money, Nordstrom had created an excellent base pay social structure along with the opportunity to create more opportunities for sales people in form of high commissions.Nordstroms pay structure is more rewarding than its competitors. Using physiological paradigm as a motivation suck up, Nordstrom is an industry attractor for harvesting the best talent within sale force. Second level of Maslows opening is Safety needs. Nordstrom had created a culture that resembles to an individual family boutique operating within its own agent and create its own identity. Nordstrom managers are free to hire and the only rule exist is to help the customer by any way possible as long as its legal. This attitude towards management had created a safety net at work place thus helping Nordstrom employees achieve better motivation. Maslows surmisal also promotes social and belongingness needs. Nordstrom has a culture of creating a family within a genuine store thus helping with social and belongingness needs of employees. Self Esteem is also considered an important factor of motivation used by Nordstrom. Employees of Nordstrom gladly introduce themselves to others due to the fact that Nordstrom has a certain place in society and this approach helps create more motivation for employees to be more productive.Maslows theory also embraces self-actualization for creating employee motivation. Nordstrom is one of the few companies that can help employees design their own business cards and schedules. The focus is to create entrepreneurial spirit among employees because Nordstrom want performance to come from ambition and motivation and not from bodily headquarters. ERG t heory by Clayton Alderfed explains three categories, existence (E), relatedness needs (R) and growth needs (G).This theory can be considered one of the pillars within methodologies used by Nordstrom. Employees are motivated using growth, relatedness needs and existence needs. Using this theory as an approach for design business model, Nordstrom helped employees look for their basic goals and use Nordstrom as a vehicle to accomplish those goals.Theory of achievement, affiliation and power by David McCelland can explain the motivational force Nordstrom is using to achieve ambitious goals of sales and motivation. By creating goals to be achieve every month, quarter and year, Nordstrom can help employees create a schedule for themselves to achieve those goals. Nordstrom had created unofficial standard of excellence that can help set goals for employees. Need for affiliation is also used during the course of employment with Nordstrom.Managers acknowledge the best employees and considered as a pacemaker to others so others can follow their example of excellent customer services and sales. Need of power if some other factor involved in creating motivated employees. Nordstrom use strict policy with promotions within the company, this process helps provide power to the ambitious and motivated employees in form of management and team leader positions.Even though traditional research had not supported claims by two-factor theory or dual-factor theory by Frederick Herzberg Nordstrom has been able to use the concept of motivators like achievement, recognition, responsibility, growth and challenging work and hygiene factors like pay, working conditions , technical supervision, status , interpersonal relationship with peers and security. Nordstrom had implemented this idea to create a self-realization environment where employees create goals and motivation comes from within. Nordstroms focus on use of expectancy theory is another motivational factor for creating motivation . Expectancy is the subjective probability that a given amount of effort will lead to a particular level of performance. Using instrumentality and valence as an outcome, Nordstrom can amplify motivational force.Another factor that Nordstrom is so successful in creating employee motivation is use of equity theory. justness theory suggests that motivation is based on persons assessment of the ratio of outcomes he/she fetch (e.g., pay, status etc). Nordstrom had implemented these theories to create a model that help employees do things with motivation from within and accession productivity and motivation. Goal setting has been a key motivator for people working within Nordstrom. Even though, many controversial lawsuits and complaints by employees and union had surfaced in last few years, Nordstrom is still promoting its culture.Nordstrom had set past more than $15 million for paying employee for times that has not been paid in past due to the fact it was not on clock. Nordstrom st ill embrace job elaboration and job enrichment policies. Job enlargement is a process of making a job more motivating by adding tasks that are standardised in complexity relative to the current task. For example, Nordstrom employees work with a customer in any department to satisfy that customers needs. Job enrichment is a process of creating more job motivation by increasing responsibilities. For example, Nordstrom designate employees to take responsibility and act as a concierge and interact with customers using letters and photos and scrap book etc. Using these theories, Nordstrom, had extend employee motivation instead of creating a hostile work environment.I personally think that Nordstrom can alter few methods to treat with how employee time is compensated. Motivation theories employ at Nordstrom are brilliant and using those theories, Nordstrom had created a culture where employees are working hard to achieve success and reach the goals set by employees and not corporate h eadquarters. Some of the complaints mentioned in case reckon legit but the role of motivation is a two way stream. Nordstrom should deal with these complaints in a mood where it can help employees gain more confidence and motivation. For example, Nordstrom should change the way feedback mechanism handled.Throughout the upstanding case, I saw a lack of feedback method that can help employees get better and increase motivation. Feedback plays and important role within companys motivational efforts. Feedback process can clarify the goals and expectations of certain employees who seem to be abused by this culture. Nordstrom should also focus on including the time for extra aeronaut activities to enhance sales on actual paid time. This would help employees use pay as a motivational factor to increase productivity as defined as Maslows, ERG and dual factor theories.

Dollar General Case

Dollar world-wide Case Study 1 Timothy Mayer Professor Perreira 02/01/2010 Executive Summary Dollar General Corporation is a leader in the discount retail industry, but clearly could use new information systems to further impart its nominal head and dominate the industry. The ability of Dollar General to set up new stores quickly, at a modest cost, and efficiently has enabled them to maximize their revenue, while keeping costs minimal. Dollar General is very dependent on the ability of the management they place in charge of each store granting, known as the setter, to organise the process and make sure the opening runs as smoothly as possible. The setter must be able to train the store manager to run the Dollar General store to the exact specifications presented by the upper management of the company. Dollar General does depend on some information systems to help open and establish its stores. They have contracts with companies, like IBM and Spacenet, which set up most of the te chnological requirements for their stores. These relationships allow for Dollar General to monitor and accelerate the creation of new stores in a way that is familiar and comfortable for them. However, erst the stores are up and running information systems are non utilized to their fullest extent. This has lead to numerous blood and employee issues that are costing the stores and company money. With the economy in the USA at one of the lowest points it has been in history, Dollar General is in a accurate position to append sales and establish a greater industry presence. They must adapt and assume though technology that can help establish this growth in order to continue to be successful. Case StudyDollar Generals use of information systems is a far from perfect system. They have the technology in place for the most part, but do not fully utilize its potential. They clearly do not fully embrace technology. They use a satellite system over a higher speed options and do not use n etworks to enhance their operations. Their reasoning for this is to keep the overhead costs down, but this increasing the overall deficiencies of their business. The of import process that suffers from the lack of information systems s their fund process. When inventory arrives at a store, it is not scanned nor is the total of goods verified or noted. This had lead to the shrink rate, the amount of loses in sales a store writes off, to sum up and develop a distrust between corporate management and the employees at the stores. Dollar General uses inventory information systems at their distribution centers already. By adapting this technology on the store level, Dollar General lead be able to solve one of the biggest problems they face.Dollar General clearly has found a nook in their industry that has worked for them for years. In order to keep their status and grow further they need to increase the budget they provide to each store for technology systems. The economy of the Uni ted States is at a perfect place for discount stores to flourish. The limitations and issues created by the lack of advanced systems will eventually catch up to them and occasion more losses of revenue. The initial costs might be greater, but over the long full term Dollar General will position itself in a better place.

Government Branches Essay

Which branch of government do you think is the most prop singlentful and why? I believe the most powerful branch of government is the Legislative Branch, because of the power it operationes to keep checks and balance on the other two branches of government. There are two different domiciles in the legislative branch, the first is the house if representatives and the senate. The House of Representatives consists of 435 members elected from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the United States territories. The states population determines the number of members elected from apiece state. There are 6 non-voting members that represent the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and four other territories of the United States. The senate consists of blow members, two from each state. Members of the house are up for election or reelection every two yr as opposed to the senate, which is every six years. Together they form the recounting of the United States of America.Article 1 Section 8 lists the powers of relation back. Some of the more important ones include the required and proper(a) clause, the commerce clause, power to tax, power to spend, coin money, and ability to borrow money, these powers give congress the ability to make laws, buy and get by goods, control a federal budget and even borrow money from foreign countries. The necessary and proper clause is one of the most powerful in the Constitution. It allows congress to make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution the foregoing powers, and all other powers vested by this constitution. This has been used for all types of federal actions including the sore Deal, McCulloch v. Maryland, integration in the states and in the federal kidnapping act. The power to tax and spend withal gives congress an important power to control the federal budget, which includes Medicare, Medicate, Social Security, infrastructure, government, agencies, and maybe the most important, the Defense budget. The House of Representatives is also given the power to impeach the President, Vice President, and all civil Officers of the United States. Impeachment is a formal process in which an official is accused of unlawful activity and the outcome of which, depending on the country, can lead to the remotion of that official from office or other punishment. There is a two-step process in range to impeach an official. First The House judicatory Committee decides whether or not to proceed with impeachment. If they do, The Chairman of the Judiciary Committee will propose a Resolution calling for the Judiciary Committee to begin a formal inquiry into the issue of impeachment.Based on their inquiry, the Judiciary Committee will send other Resolution to the full House stating that impeachment is warranted and why (the Articles of Impeachment), or that impeachment is not called for. The Full House will tip over and vote on each Article of Impeachment. Should any one of the Articles of Impeachment be approved by a simple majority vote, the President will be impeached. However, being impeached is sort of like being indicted of a crime. There still has to be a trial, which is where the US Senate comes in. The Senate will meet in private session to debate a verdict. The Senate, in open session, will vote on a verdict. A 2/3rds vote of the Senate will result in a conviction. The Legislative Branch is more powerful than both the Executive Branch and the Judicial Branch because when it come down to the President voting on a piece of legislature or appointing a supreme court judge, congress has the last say. After a bill is passed by congress it is sent to the President for his vote. If the President vetos the bill congress is able with 2/3 vote able to overturn the Presidents decision. Under Article 2, Section 2, of the US Constitution provides that the President may nominate members of the Supreme Court, but that appointment only occurs with the advice and consent of the Senate. This pith the Senate conducts an investigation of the candidates qualifications and personal background, determines whether he or she would adequately fulfill the role of Justice, indeed votes whether to approve or disapprove the nomination. In the end each branch is supposed to provide checks and balances for one another, but without the approval or money that congress controls, the Executive Branch and Judicial Branch would need a hard time operating.Sourceshttp//www.whitehouse.gov/our-government/legislative-branchhttp//www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/conlaw/congpowers.htm http//usgovinfo.about.com/od/thepresidentandcabinet/a/impeachment.htmhttp//people.howstuffworks.com/supreme-court-appointment.htm/printable
